Elio is your typical kid, if by typical kid you mean one who is desperate to be abducted by extraterrestrials and ends up getting beamed up to what appears to be a space station inhabited by lifeforms from throughout the galaxy.

That’s the premise that the latest trailer for Pixar’s Elio sets up. In it, we see more of Elio, who we first met in this teaser dropped way back in June 2023 when the movie was originally supposed to come out in March 2024 (spoiler, it didn’t). We also see the aliens mistakingly think young Elio is the leader of Earth. Oops!

Here’s the official synopsis:

A space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession, Elio’s all in for an epic undertaking when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. When Elio is mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.

The movie features the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO. It’s is directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina.

Elio is now set to premiere in theaters on June 13, 2025.
